About

It’s better to love and lose than never love at all!

The story of

Janis Roszman

As a child, Janis once visited her grandparents’ grave with her mom and dad. Her dad didn’t share many details about the past because of his grief. So, young Janis never knew the full story behind the name carved in stone. It wasn’t until years later that her mom disclosed the complete love story with Janis.

NAMESAKE is her way of sharing that story with you. It follows her grandparents, John and Janis, who met during World War II while working in a factory. Their time together was short but full of hope. As the war escalated, they got married and began building a life. Then John was called to serve—leaving a pregnant Janis behind. He never made it home.

NAMESAKE is a historical novel brimming with love and longing. It’s a granddaughter’s way of remembering and honoring two people who meant the world to each other, making sure their story lives on.
